Coach Steve Hodes JrWhat parents say about me?

"Steve has been a great coach and mentor for our son, Haydon, this year. He has encouraged him to come out of his comfort zone and try new things, which have resulted in him gaining so much more confidence in himself and his skills in soccer. As his parents, it has been great to see his love for soccer grow and improve so much this past year. Steve is very direct with his coaching which has been helpful because you know exactly what his expectations are. It is obvious that Steve is passionate about soccer and makes it so much fun for our kids. Above all, the environment that Steve creates in his teams is very positive and it is obvious that the kids have a great friendship outside of soccer too. Steve cares about our kids, more than just as players on his team, and you see that through his countless actions. We have been lucky to have Steve coach our son this past year."
-Beckley Family

"Steve-

We LOVE your coaching style! Layla likes the immediate feedback you give her on the field. As parents, we enjoy that your goal is to perfect the player/play versus win the game. Example, game happening and a player makes a mistake. You call them to the sideline while the game is still happening to make sure they know what happened and how to adjust.  Thanks for all that you do!" -The Rogers Family

"Coach Steve puts his heart into his team!  You will not find a more dedicated coach.  And he teaches quite a few unique plays and tricks that you won't get from other coaches!" - Murray Family

"Coach Steve has helped our son transition from Parks and Recreational soccer to club level soccer flawlessly. He is not one to sugar coat anything and will tell your son or daughter exactly what they have done, right or wrong. Prior to this I had coached my son in every sport he has played, which translates to, I pretty much know everything about my child. Not the case at all. His skill level has improved tremendously!  My wife and I at times enjoy listening to Coach Steve on the sideline more than watching the games."
- Robinson Family

Coach Steve Hodes Jr"Coach Steve is absolutely amazing. He is direct, positive, and always encouraging. He excites our daughter and her team through soccer and competition, while focusing on individual skill development. Our daughter has flourished immensely and improved her quality of sportsmanship and talent because of Steve." - Owen Family

“My daughter is a second year, 8 year old, player for the organization Coach Steve is involved in. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with her development. Coach Steve is 100% dedicated to making the girls the best they can be. It shows through his energy level and commitment. Coach Steve is one of the best!” - Lasswell Family

“Coach Steve pushes me to work hard and be a better player than I thought I could be.”
“Sometimes Coach Steve gets frustrated, but I know it’s because he wants me to get better and that just makes me want to get better.” - Parker

"Coach Steve goes the extra mile to grow kids while still having fun and building relationships.  He values his team as kids first, players second.  He gives up his own personal time to give opportunities for the team to play extra in order to make them better." - Lambert Family

Attack Dominate Wings in Exhibition

Kansas City, MO -- The defending NPSL champion Kansas City Attack defeated the Wichita Wings in a preseason exhibition game today at the Kansas City Soccer Dome, 20-4, notching their second preseason victory. Nine unanswered goals and three shutout quarters of play were the story of the one-sided Attack victory.

After falling to a 4-2 deficit early in the first quarter, the Attack's offense went on a surge, scoring eight unanswered goals before the half. Playing in just the first half of today's exhibition, Eloy Slagado, entering his second full season with the Attack, scored twice and recorded an assist and Novica Marojevic, also known as "Novi", recorded four assists.

The Attack scored just once in the second half, but got a strong defensive showing with two shutout quarters from goalkeeper Mickey Butatovic, an invitee from Yugoslavia, and the Attack defenders. Second-year performer Jeff Davis also scored twice, including a stolen header off a Wichita goalkeeper kick that he was able to corral and kick into an open net. Manny Catano, who scored two goals in the Attack's first exhibition, and Brad McTighe, the Attack's first round draft choice from Creighton (Neb.) University, each added a goal and assist.

The Attack have two other scheduled exhibitions, both in Wichita, Kansas City travels to Wichita for a scrimmage at the Wings' Coliseum at 2 p.m. on October 10, and again for an outdoor exhibition game at Lawrence Dumont Stadium on October 12. The Attack open the 1997-98 season at Wichita on November 1. The defending champions' home opener is scheduled for December 12 against Detroit and will be celebrated as a "Salute to Champions" night at Kemper Arena.
